Overview
Experience a full immersion in the Amazon with this 6-day, 5-night program from Puerto Maldonado. Enjoy thrilling kayak adventures, close encounters with monkeys at Monkey Island, and night-time caiman spotting. Explore the biodiversity of Lake Sandoval, swim in its waters, and watch playful river otters. Discover the ancestral culture of indigenous communities and participate in activities such as rustic fishing and conservation projects at Taricaya, including turtles, butterflies, and wildlife rescue. Embark on canopy walks and zip-lining, and marvel at the jungle from observation platforms. The journey concludes with a breathtaking sunrise at the “Cachuela” Parrot Clay Lick and an Amazonian cacao tasting, blending nature, culture, and conservation into an unforgettable adventure.
Day 1 – Kayak & Monkey Island

- Pick up at Puerto Maldonado airport or bus terminal; city tour including Plaza Grau and the confluence of the Madre de Dios and Tambopata rivers.
- 40-minute boat transfer to Amazon Eco Lodge Paradise; welcome juice and check-in.
- Kayak activity on the Madre de Dios River, with a safety boat following the group. Opportunity to swim and relax in the river.
- Visit Monkey Island: interact with capuchin and white-faced monkeys, observe their behavior and feed them under guide supervision.
- Evening “caimaneada”: boat tour to spot caimans, nocturnal birds, and capybaras along riverbanks.
- Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

- Early morning boat ride (40 min) to Lake Sandoval; short walk to control post for registration.
- 3 km guided walk through the forest, observing birds, monkeys, reptiles, insects, and plants.

- Return to lodge; optional guided night walk.

- Kayak excursion on Madre de Dios River with safety boat; swimming opportunity.
- Dinner and overnight.

- Canopy Walkway: 90-meter hanging bridge leading to a 45-meter-high observation platform in a 300-year-old lupuna tree.
- Taricaya Turtle Project: learn about endangered species conservation and participate in release activities if available.
- Butterfly Farm: understand butterfly biology and sustainable management.
- Community Development: visit local community projects, including agroforestry, reforestation, and education programs.
- Wildlife Rescue Center: observe care and rehabilitation of confiscated wild animals before reintroduction into the wild.
- Lunch and rest; dinner and overnight at lodge.

- Early morning (~4:00 a.m.) boat ride to Collpa de Loros; observe parrots, macaws, and other birds feeding on mineral-rich clay during sunrise.
- Return to lodge for breakfast.
- Tambopata Cacao Tour: learn about traditional cacao cultivation and chocolate production; participate in roasting and grinding; taste handmade cacao bars from native Chuncho cacao.
- Transfer back to Puerto Maldonado airport or bus terminal.
